Fatalities and serious injuries from road crashes are a growing problem in nearly all low- and middle-income countries. With funding from the UK Aid, the World Bank's Global Road Safety Facility has undertaken the development of the Road Safety Calculator. This new tool is intended to allow practitioners to quantify the benefits of implementing road safety strategies.
The objective is to help government agencies and non-governmental organizations set priorities for road safety interventions in the areas of road user behavior, vehicle safety features, roadway infrastructure, and traffic speed management. Anticipated tool users include practitioners in public policy, public health, city planning, engineering, law enforcement, and more.
