Meeting the Global Road Safety Performance Targets: Case Studies from Pakistan and the Philippines

ADB is hosting a special knowledge-sharing webinar that will feature presentations on two road safety case studies that support achievement of the Global Road Safety Performance Targets, and will showcase examples of the key concepts and approaches that will be featured in the upcoming Road Safety Capacity Building Programme to be sponsored by ADB's Transport Sector Group.

The first will be presented by Greg Smith (iRAP) and Asif Azam (National Highway Authority, Pakistan) and focus on highway safety assessments that were performed with the National Highway Authority of Pakistan with support from the ADB.

The second will be presented by Marcin Flieger and Robert Susanj (GRSP) and will focus on speed enforcement and a project building capacity of enforcement agencies in the Philippines with support from UNESCAP and local organisation Imagine Law.

About the Speakers

  • Greg Smith leads the strategic projects division of the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), a charity dedicated to creating a world free of high risk roads.
  • Asif Azam is the Deputy Director, Road Asset Management Systems, of the National Highway Authority of Pakistan.
  • Marcin Flieger is the Manager for Road Policing Capacity Building of the Global Road Safety Partnership.
  • Robert Susanj is a Senior Officer for Road Policing Capacity Building of the Global Road Safety Partnership.
